Underground Utility Improvements
Dymond Road (between W Golf & Crane)

As you may be aware, underground utility improvements will soon begin in the areas specified above. The Village has recently awarded the contract for this work to Copenhaver Construction of Gilberts, IL. A brief description of the improvements is attached.
Please carefully review the information in this Advisory AND watch for future Construction Advisories from the Village. Each notice contains important information regarding the planned activity in your area.
During construction, occasional road closures will likely be necessary and daytime on-street parking will be restricted within the work area. During construction hours (typically 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.), large barricades and “ROAD CLOSED – LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY” signs may be placed in the street and will be oriented to allow residents that live in the neighborhood to pass the barricades and get access to their driveways. Barricades and road closed signs are meant to bring attention to construction activities and hopefully discourage through traffic. Due to the narrow width of the roadway and activities of construction equipment, there will be brief periods when the road will be impassible. During excavation and water main (WM) installation, access to driveways may be interrupted briefly. In most circumstances, driveways may be inaccessible for 2-4 hours during work. Driveway closure notices will be delivered when appropriate in advance of the closure. Notices may be placed on front doors or another location where it is likely to be seen. Please be cautious and patient in construction areas. The Village and the Contractor are committed to keeping disruption to a minimum, however some dirt, dust and inconvenience can be expected.
Temporary pavement repairs will usually be completed within a few days of water main installation. Permanent pavement repairs, curb replacement, asphalt resurfacing and landscape restoration for disturbed parkway lawn areas will follow the underground work under a separate contract. More information on the pavement work will be provided when appropriate.
Scope of Work
Replacement of the existing public water main (WM) is planned for Dymond Rd. between W Golf and Crane. Work is expected to begin on or about Wednesday, March 28 near the intersection of Dymond & Golf. Work will likely proceed north along Dymond. Due to conflicts with other utilities, much of the new WM will be installed under the pavement on the east side of the road. The existing curb and a section of the pavement along the east side must be removed to allow installation of the new WM. Connections must be made to the existing WM at each intersection. The connection work may require a temporary interruption of water service. Notifications for anticipated water interruptions will be provided to effected residents in advance. Limited sanitary & storm sewer repairs are also planned in some locations.
The existing WM will remain in service until such time as the new main is placed in service. Following main line pipe installation, new 1.5” copper water lines to each property will be installed from the new WM to new valves/b-boxes and connected to your existing water line in the parkway area. Water service line information
New 1.5” water services will be installed from the new water main and will be connected to existing water services in the parkway area. As a reminder, per Village Ordinance, water lines from the b-box (shut off valve) into your home are owned and maintained by individual property owners. Due to recently changed IEPA requirements, water providers must inform consumers of the possibility of sediment potentially containing lead particles at your tap. Please refer to the enclosed Important Information About Your Drinking Water and Lead Exposure for more information.
