Arbor Court Water Service Line Reconnection
As part of the 2017 Water Main Replacement project, the water service line that serves your property will be replaced from the new water main to a new shut off (b-box) which is usually located in the parkway. The water service installations are expected to begin Thursday, April 20, and we hope to be complete with all services within 3 working days. Just prior to connection of your new service, your water will be turned off for approximately 1 hour. Someone will knock on your door as a reminder just prior to shut off. Start of work could be delayed because of weather
Installation of services for homes is anticipated to be done by directional boring. The directional boring equipment may be situated between your house and the sidewalk (or curb) during the boring process. The contractor will take appropriate measures to minimize disruption and damage to landscaping within your property. Any damage will be repaired as necessary. If directional drilling is not possible, the water service will be installed by the traditional method of open cut excavation.
Following the connection of your water service to the new water main, our contractor will flush water from your outside faucet for a few minutes. This is important to remove sediment and any discoloration (rust) before it has a chance to enter your home’s plumbing system. It is also recommended to run the cold water inside the house for 3-5 minutes following reestablishment of service. Opening one or more faucets and running the water for a brief period is usually all that is required to clear the lines. This will help eliminate any air which may have become trapped in your system and help to prevent possible discoloration of laundry.
