Lake Street Garage Cleaning

To continue to maintain the parking structure, Village crews have begun the process of power washing the entire facility.

Beginning Monday, April 24th, portions of the lower level will be closed for cleaning. It is anticipated this will be complete in approximately one week. The facility will be fully open for parking over the weekend.

Employees who would normally park on the lower level, and are unable to find lower level parking during the cleaning, are instructed to please use the top level of the deck. Employee parking hang-tags should be displayed regardless of location. The Police Department is aware of this temporary change and will not ticket those following these instructions.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this temporary inconvenience. If you have questions, please contact the Streets & Utilities Division at (847) 918-2070.

Church Street Garage Updates

The Church Street Garage is open with over 300 parking spaces now available for use.

Employee Parking:  Earlier this month the Village authorized use of the top level of the Church Street garage for use as both four-hour customer parking, as well as employee use with hang-tag displayed. Employee parking is also available on the lower level. Please note, hang-tag must be displayed or a ticket may be issued for exceeding the time limit. Hang-tags can be purchased at the Police Department.

Surface Parking:  The thirteen surface parking spaces located along the north side of the garage, just outside the structure, are now signed to allow one-hour parking only, Monday-Friday, 6 am - 6 pm. Customer use only of these spaces is suggested in accordance with the Village's Customer First parking policy (see below).

Maple Access:  Construction crews are underway completing the widening of the garage access from Maple Ave. When complete, this will allow two-way traffic from the south. The preferred access route remains either Church St or Brainerd Ave.

Customers First:  The Village's Customer First parking policy is designed to protect and ensure the success of our downtown businesses. Businesses are asked to please help educate employees where they can park.  Employee parking areas are identified in the Parking Guide.  Parking in lesser utilized areas is encouraged, including:

  • the eastern portion of the Newberry Ave lot,
  • the lowest level of the Lake and Church Street Parking Structures (employees only during day, available to customers after 5 pm),
  • the upper level of the Church Street Parking Structure, and
  • the downtown Metra lot which becomes available for free to employees/customers after 5 pm and on weekends (only paying commuters during day).

If an employer/landlord does not provide private parking for employees, employees of the downtown must park in designated employee parking areas with a employee hangtag displayed.  Hangtags can be purchased at the Libertyville Police Department, 200 E Cook Ave (847-362-8310).
