Risk Watch is an injury prevention program for children in preschool through eighth grade. It is designed to help children and families create safer homes and communities by teaching them the skills and knowledge they need to make positive choices about their personal safety. Risk Watch seeks to prevent the major unintentional injuries that threaten children in this age group. The major risk areas covered are:
Motor Vehicle Safety
Fire and Burn Prevention
Firearms Injury Prevention
Bike and Pedestrian Safety
Choking, Suffocation, and Strangulation Prevention
The Village of Libertyville implemented Risk Watch in 2004. The program has been taught to thousands of children. To learn more on how the Risk Watch program works to make our entire community safer from preventable injuries, please visit NFPA’s Risk Watch site.
