Sustainability

The Village of Libertyville is committed to environmental sustainability as a means of providing a high quality of life for its residents present and future. To further reiterate that commitment, the Sustain Libertyville Commission was established via ordinance. In 2015, the Village Board of Trustees approved the adoption of a Libertyville Sustainability Plan as recommended by the Sustain Libertyville Commission. The Sustainability Plan was updated in 2018 and is undergoing revisions for 2022.

Recycling in the Village

The Village has partnered with SWALCO to provide a new clothing and textile recycling bin at Riverside Park. Clothing and textiles are recycled and repurposed to keep them out of landfills and turn them into usable new products. For a list of acceptable and unacceptable items, click here. (Note: Shoes are not collected in the Clothing and Textile Collection bin program.)

Resources
